TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

Our wrought iron doors are made from 2” thick, 12 gauge steel tubing.  The stiles and rails are usually 2" X 6" but can be made differently on custom orders.

Wrought iron work is solid steel - various sizes of round and square bar are used depending on the style chosen.

Door Jamb dimensions are 2" X 4", 2" X 6", 2" X 8" and 2" X 10".  A 6" Jamb is normal for a wall built using 2" X 4" studs.  An 8" Jamb is usual for a wall built using 2" X 6" studs.  You should check with your contractor to determine the correct size of Jamb needed.  Please review the page on Choosing Jamb Size for more information on options.

All our doors are pre-hung using heavy duty ball bearing hinges.

For best thermal protection, dual pane glass is included and pre-installed. Inside layer is clear, outside layer your choice of 6 styles.  We also have Low-E glass available to even further reduce heat transfer.

All doors, and sidelights over 15" wide, are hinged to open on the inside for cleaning and ventilation. They are securely latched and can only be opened from the inside.

All doors and jambs are fully insulated inside with a high density polyurethane foam.

We supply Baldwin Reserve line Locksets and also offer wrought iron pull handles with roller catches and a deadbolt.  We can also bore your door for other locksets.  For details see our page on Handles and Locksets.  Please note that doors are shipped without the locksets installed to prevent shipping damage.  For a PDF of the Baldwin Reserve boring specification click here.

Doors and windows are sealed with top quality, storm proof, rubber weather stripping for both insulation and weather protection.

Bottom sweep and seal is integral to the door - the sweep is replaceable as needed, usually after 5 years.

Bottom threshold is integral to the door frame - 2" high on the inside with a fall to 1" on the outside.

For easy installation we include pre-drilled tabs welded perpendicular to the jamb.

Our doors have the toughest and most attractive finishes on the market.  Each door goes through a 9 step process:

1) Descaling and sand blasting to prepare surface.
2) Hot Zinc Galvanizing bonds to the steel to make a rust proof alloy.
3) 1st Rust Proof undercoat painting.

4) Epoxy slurry to fill minor imperfections.
5) 2nd Rust Proof undercoat painting
6) Base paint 1 to even color
.
7) Base paint 2 to prepare for final finish.
8) Decorative faux painting (can be up to 4 separate coatings)
9) Clear-coat protective finish.
